Hon. Francis A. Sani Zangon Kataf PDP Chairmanship Candidate for the 2021 Local Government Council Elections condole families of victims and the good people of Atyapland on the recent barbaric attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
In a press statement he issued, he lamented that: “Our assailants are at it again. Two days ago, a Reverend with the ECWA Church at Kibori Asha-awuce was murdered, and another 2 persons at Kurmin Masara, 11 persons at Apiojim part of Kibori, and 1 person at Doka in Zaman Dabo ward, all in Atyap Chiefdom were killed in a fresh attack just last night by suspected Fulani herdsmen.”
He further stated, I am grieved by this fresh attack and extend my most sincere heartfelt condolences to the families of those lost in these satanic attacks, Atyap Chiefdom, and the entire people of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
These latest attacks, like others before it, was an act of provocation by the enemies of our people. But I urge us all not to cave in to the antics of these demons who are trying hard to destabilise our Local Government with a view to making elections either impossible or in a bid to ensure the election is conducted under heavy military presence.
In addition, we wish to make it categorically clear to our attackers that it is not our fault that God has gifted our ancestors the very areas we occupy today, and no amount of genocidal attacks will be enough to make us relinquish those lands to anyone.
I therefore call on community leaders and our teeming youths to unite, network and remain vigilant across all communities in the Local Government going forward, so that our attackers do not get away with their crime everytime they come attacking by promptly alerting the security agencies.
I also call on all security agencies in the area to improve on their intelligence gathering as well as their response mechanism whenever there is news of ongoing attacks.
President Muhammadu Buhari, and the Kaduna State Government in particular, should demonstrate leadership by ensuring that these frequent attacks are stopped and the perpetrators apprehended and brought to book. Paying lip service to the genocide taking place in Southern Kaduna, as has been the case since the coming to power of this Administration, will not resolve the crisis.
I pray for the repose of the souls of those killed, speedy recovery for those receiving treatment and succour to the bereaved.
Together, we shall take our Local Government and restore peace in every community. It is possible.
