In a press statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Executive Chairman, Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area (LGA), Mr. Yabo Chris Ephraim, said, the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Francis A. Sani calls for an end to herders-farmers clash in the environ, today, at the council Chamber.
Sani made the call at a meeting with Ardos, District Heads, Community Leaders, Youth Leaders, Councillors, Security Agents, and Council Members from the 6 wards of affected communities.
The call is against the backdrop of the recent clash between herders and farmers leading to the destruction of crops and the death of few cows. The Chairman is saddened by the recurrence of these disturbing clashes and the taking of the law into their hands.
He urged the security agencies to be on high alert and respond quickly to emergencies and matters of disruption of peace. This he said will save the escalation of conflicts. The meeting equally resolved that all Ardos should reside within their domain, as it is observed that some of them operate from outside their designated domains. All community leaders charged with the responsibilities of maintaining peace should be active and act in the interest of peace.
Both parties at the meeting thanked the chairman for prioritizing peace and security in Zangon Kataf, and for taking frantic steps towards sustainable and enduring peace. They made commitments to support his peace-building efforts.
