The People Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship Candidate in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. Francis A. Sani alias Zimbo has called on local, state and federal governments to do more to forestall the spate of attacks in Zangon-Kataf LGA.
The statement is contained in a press statement signed by Zimbo and issued to Gurara Accord in Kaduna, yesterday.
Zimbo strongly condemned these acts of unjustified wickedness and declared that all the perpetrators be found and dealt with in accordance with the law.
“In the past two months, the isolated killings of our people in Zangon Kataf LGA by enemies of peace have become a full blown war against the Atyap people,” he bemoaned.
He further added, “While the combined military operations going on is much commendable, I wish to state that the local, state and federal governments need to show more commitment to securing Zangon Kataf from the hands of organised killers.
“They should ensure that our agile, healthy and law-abiding youths are formed into vigilante groups and given the needful assistance to work with the security agencies. This is one of the best ways out of this bad situation,” Zimbo urged.
He praised the efforts and sacrifices made specifically by the youths in Zangon Kataf LGA and our community leaders in these trying times.
“I want to encourage you all to note that no one can drive us from our ancestral lands and take them over.
“I also deeply sympathise with the families of the fallen victims of the recent attacks and all other ones before them, and ask God to accept their souls.
“On my part, I shall in my own little way, continue to offer assistance to the wounded who are still receiving treatment even as I pray for their fast recovery.
“We may continue to suffer setbacks, but we shall bounce back to our old peace, and the pursuit of liberty and happiness. And the best way to get back to that era of peace and progress is to vote at all levels for leaders who are opposed to the use of violence to subdue us and force us down.
“We must come together irrespective of tribe, religion and ideology and take a common position on our future if we must survive as one,” he concluded.
