The running mate to Kaduna state PDP governorship candidate, Dr. John Marcus Ayuba, in a press statement he issued in Kaduna, today, on the recent killings in Ungwan Wakili, Zango Kataf LG of Kaduna State, condemned in its entirety the dastard act and send a message of hope to the devastated community.
“We received with shock the unfortunate attack on the hapless citizens of Ungwan Wakili in Zangon Kataf LGA of our dear state, between Saturday 11th and the early hours of Sunday 12th March 2023 which claimed 17 innocent lives and left scores of others injured and displaced,” he said.
He further added that “This round of attack is yet another sad commentary on our desire for a secure, peaceful, and united state. I, therefore, condemn in the strongest terms the attack and call on the security agencies to go after the perpetrators and conduct a thorough investigation into the causes so that they are made to face the full wrath of the law, while measures to forestall future occurrences must be adopted forthwith.
“I also commiserate with the government and people of Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area, particularly the Atyap Chiefdom, over the loss of loved ones and property and appeal to them to remain calm and vigilant.
“I also appeal to the Federal and State Governments to direct the relevant emergency agencies to immediately provide relief materials to the displaced to forestall any humanitarian crisis in the affected areas.
“May God grant eternal rest to all those killed, healing to those injured, and comfort to those who lost their loved ones in the attack.
“With the right and responsive leadership in the state, these kinds of challenges can be nipped in the bud. We must, therefore, take responsibility and ensure we elect only leaders who have demonstrated the willingness and capacity to restore security, peace, unity, and progress in the state come March 18, 2023.
“Together with Rt. Hon. Isa Mohammed Ashiru, security remains our number one priority in creating a Kaduna State of your dream, where everyone and every section can sleep and go about their legitimate businesses without the fear of being molested, abducted, maimed, or killed.”
