Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani has brought to the fore the renewed and wanton killings in Southern Kaduna by Fulani herdsmen. Speaking on the dastard activities of the killer herdsmen, Gwani called on the House of Representatives to beckons the Inspector General of Police to deploy his men to the troubled communities.
The call was made in a motion he raised yesterday, entitled: “Urgent need to stop incessant attacks in Southern Kaduna communities and Local Government Areas,” which was raised on the floor of the house by Gwani during a plenary session.
The lawmaker cited the recent killings in Kukum Daji community in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State where 18 feared death and 30 people sustained various degrees of injury as a reference.
Adding that, some of the villagers are still missing as villagers are in fear to search deep into the bush for their loved ones as security agents have not been deployed to their community.
The lawmakers called on the House of Representatives to surmon the “Inspector General of Police to urgently intervene and direct the deployment of adequate security personnel in the affected communities for the protection of lives and fish out the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to justice.
“Task the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to intervene and provide social and material support to the victims of the attack and displaced villagers in the communities; and return IDPs to their ancestral lands and resettle them.
“Also mandate the Committee on Police Affairs, Disaster Management and Preparedness to ensure compliance.”
