One of the witnesses of the purported sex party trial in Kaduna, Corporal Thaddeus Samson attached to Sabon Tasha Division of the Kaduna State Police Command told High Court 1 sitting in Ibrahim Taiwo Road, Kaduna, presided by Honourable Justice Benjamin Hassan that there was no sex party going on when they raided Asher Restaurant and Lounge.
Samson added that his only source of information on the purported sex party was the flyers and text message from Magnus Akpan who he claimed was the organizer of the sex party. He went further to say, he didn’t have evidence that Magnus Akpan booked Asher Restaurant for any sex party. “What I have as evidence are the chat in Akapan’s WhatsApp and a flyer, which sex party was written on it, I don’t have receipt to show that Akpan booked Asher Restaurant and Lounge for sex party.”
Samson also told the court that on 27th December, 2020 they went to Asher Restaurant and Lounge having received information from Sabon Tasha DPO and on reaching Aher Restaurant and Lounge they saw more than 50 people not observing social distancing, not wearing masks, no provision of hand sanitizers with many of them half-naked, drinking and playing loud music. And on sighting the Police they started shouting “Ba za mu yarda ba (we will not agree).”
Adding that, we wanted to arrest them some of them jumped over the fence while others threw stones, then, we arrested the DJ, the owner of the Restaurant and Lounge and the bartender. And we didn’t arrest anyone half-naked.”
The presiding Judge, Benjamin Hassan adjourned the case to 3rd March for further hearing. It will be recalled that the property which Asher Restaurant and Lounge was renting was demolished by the Kaduna state government over the above issue.
