The attention of Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani have been drawn to an allegation by APC members in Kaura LG and damaging material published by Ameboloaded (an online news platform) with the heading: “Crisis rocks the PDP in Kaura Local Government As Members Accuse Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani for Imposing Candidates with Fake results.”
Contrary to the above allegation that the PDP candidate has fake results, it has been proven to be untrue, unfounded, unsubstantiated and vague.
Long ago, PDP in Kaura LG have undertaken an internal investigation of the allegation through its Legal Counsel in collaboration with all the heads of the schools and institutions that Simon Mathias attended and they all have it that, Mathias has original results.
After all, Hon. Gwani’s name was dragged into the vortex to attract the needed attention to the scandals, pitch Gwani against his party members and to also showcase PDP as a party that is going to the poll with a divided house. The grand effect is to lower public confidence on PDP, rubbish Gwani and de-market PDP candidate.
The slur campaign against PDP candidate and Gwani are apparently a wild-goose-chase because PDP followers in Kaura are driven by well-binded enthusiasm and Gwani’s popularity is at all time high. His popularity hasn’t plummeted to the level that claiming that Gwani has sponsored a candidate will make voters hate the candidate. This is an irony!
Prior the PDP party’s primary, Gwani had no anointed political son or preferred candidate. However, like any political party leader will behave, having Simon Mathias emerged victorious at the party’s primary, he becomes Gwani candidate because Gwani, as one of PDP’s most important figure in Kaura and Kaduna State at large, he must not be seen working against the progress of his party or involve in antiparty activities.
It is mind-boggling and total display of political weakness that as the hours to the 2021 local government election in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State ticks closer to election hours, the All Progressive Congress (APC) lacks an integrated strategy to win election in a clean slate, they resorted to using the unpopular option: propaganda to wrongfoot and hoodwink the electorates. It appears their midgame is boomeranging while the reality of the outcome of the election points towards the nadir.
APC should have focused on doing the needful and place themselves at pole position to pull a major surprise. They didn’t.
The main issue confronting APC in Kaura LG is lack of leadership after the demise of Barnabas Bala Bantex. The situation is unavoidable because the party never had succession plan. The troubling consequences of lack of leadership is conspicuous.
The absence of Bantex, however, has brewed crisis between those who want him to be immortalized politically and those who want all traces of Bantex be erased in Kaura politics. In addition, the party is unpopular. This is where APC trouble lies and not Hon. Gideon Gwani.
