The president, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Dr. Sopu Ayokunle, said, the killings in Southern Kaduna region of the state must stop. Adding that, the killings here and there is totally embarrassing to people that value peace.
“Infact, we don’t want government to be sympathetic to the killings in Southern Kaduna, we want the killings to stop,” he said.
Ayokunle made the assertions at the Prayer Protest organised by CAN at the ECWA Good News, High-Coast, Kaduna, today.
He went further to say that Jesus didn’t tell Christians that life is not going to be easy but, in the name of the Lord it will not continue.
He also salute the courage of CAN leadership in Kaduna State for speaking out in this period of killings. He added that, if you are fighting the right to live, God is on your side.
He urged them not to be afraid and that the gradual decimation of the people of Southern Kaduna started long time ago but, nobody gave attention to it, until it became a recurring decimal.
And if everybody is pointing accusing finger to the government is because it is the Chief Security Officer of the state and that nobody will hate his leader, people will only hate when their expectations are not met.
“Gov. El-rufai is not our enemy, if he is our enemy we can’t be running to him for solution. God is against killings, we are also against it. However, if the people we entrust with power and money to defend us failed, we will have no option than to resort to self-help.”
Meanwhile Ayokunle thanked federal government for responding to the cry of the people and deployed a Special Forces to the zone.
Rev. Fr. Fred Simon Byat delivery a word of Exhortation at the Prayer Protest, he said: “If God be for us, who can be against us, the killings is not a mystery as it is that which is carried out and systematically executed not by ghost but by humans.
“The Fulani militia is on genocidal mission as they are there killing, Now where is the Government at this time when people are killed? If you do not act, it suggests complicity, but if you are trying and your effort is not yielding result, then simply resign.
“The Governor deserves our commendation about this COVID-19 pandemic, but one question is, in all these killings, has the governor visited Southern Kaduna Or is it a way of saying it is okay to be killed by Fulani militia and not by COVID-19?
“Evil is evil, it doesn’t have any other name.
“Choosing to remain silent is chosing to side with the terrorist,
We must appreciate those who chose to speak out.
“I commend the deployment of troops to Southern Kaduna and I hope and trust something good to happen.
“Do not go to attack any one, and do not allow yourself to be attacked. Defend yourself, while you pray, don’t forget to work by acting and pray for our dear Governor Nasiru El’rufai.”
