The President of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Comrade Audu Titus Amba tasked teachers across the country to get their Permanent Voter Card, PCV ahead of the 2023 election.
According to him, that’s the only panacea to electing credible leaders that would ameliorate the suffering of the Nigerian workers.
He also appeal to the federal government to put a mechanism in motion to address the current impasse between it and the academic staff Union of Universities so as to bring to an end the persistent industrial disharmony in the education sector.
He described teachers as the bedrock of societal development, hence the need for government at all levels to accord priority to development of education in the country.
The NUT National President further implore teachers in the country to always be of good conduct and support government at all levels in their quest to transform the nation educational development.
Comrade Amba, however prayed for a lasting peace and socioeconomic and political prosperity, adding that despite the numerous challenges bedevilling the country, Nigeria shall soon emerged greater, united and peaceful.
Comrade Amba who is a two-term Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in Kaduna state and the immediate past National Publicity Secretary (PRO) of the union, said, the confidence reposed on him as a result of his account of stewardship, prudence and the enhancement of Teachers welfare in Kaduna state through the establishment of the epoch NUT Hotel, a microfinance bank and other welfare packages helped in the upliftment the living standard of Teachers across Kaduna state in the recent past.
Simple and unassuming, the National president of NUT reiterated his resolve and readiness to push harder towards addressing the current challenges bedevilling the Nigerian Teachers, especially those working at the rural areas and hinter lands.
The NUT National president added that, the current leadership of the union shall continue to engage relevant stakeholders in both the public and private sectors with a view to enhancing the quality of teaching and the living standard of the Nigerian Teacher
