The National Union of Civil Engineering Construction Furniture and Wood Workers (NUCECFWW) has awarded Comrade Ben Ularju Papka, National Deputy President of NUCECFWW as Peace Ambassador.
The award was recently presented to Papka by the National President of NUCECFWW/Deputy President of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Amechi Asugwuni in Lagos, which is a testimony of his good and exemplary leadership qualities.
The recipient of the award, Papka, thanked the National President of NUCECFWW for the meritous award. He also thanked the Central Working Committee (CWC), National Executive Council (NEC) of the union and the entire Construction Members/Workers for this noble award in honour of his exhibition of peace and unity in the organization.
For the benefit of hindsight, Papka started his sojourn in unionism far back in 1997 when he was elected the Branch Secretary of NUCECFWW of Mothercat Limited. Having being elected, he served for four years. In 2000, he contested for the State Financial Secretary under the state council of NUCECFWW and served for four years.
Again, in 2004, Papka contested for the Chairman of NUCECFWW of Kaduna State and won and served for a period of four years (2004-2008). And from 2013-2017 he was the National Vice President of NUCECFWW. Because of his dogged determination and his vast contributions to the union, Papka became the Union’s National Deputy President from 2017 to 2021 and currently, he is the National Deputy President for the second term in a row.
