The Chairman of kaduna state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Stephen Akau Kache described as worrisome the arbitrary deduction of 25% salary of medical workers, amid pandemic, in the state. He said, the government have made an unwarranted deduction in a sector that it ought to have increased it’s allowances.
“It is uncharitable to deduct the salary of health workers in the frontline amidst the Corona Virus pandemic,” adding, “Instead of paying allowances of health workers in this period, ironically, our salaries are being deducted without our consent or approval.”
The state government have been talking about paying the allowances of health workers but, reverse is the case.
In respect to the 25% deduction of civil servants in the state, Labour in Kaduna state have called on the Kaduna state government to stop the 25% deduction henceforth and should return the 25% salary already deducted from the workers.
Failure to comply with the above will leave the labour in the state with no option than to explore other possible avenues within the purview of the law.
