The victory of Hassan Hyat at the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Congress at the Trade Fair Complex in Kaduna over the weekend is a victory for all, said, Hon. Gideon Gwani, Minority Whip of the House of Representatives and member representing Kaura Federal Constituency.
The federal lawmaker urged all the contestants and party followers to embrace the outcome of the election and work together for the progress of the party at the polls come 2023.
What transpired at the party’s Congress is the expression of the will of the majority of the people through the delegates who elected Hyat.
He further stated, “All the contestants can’t be winners at the same time, we will have winners and losers simultaneously, which is what happened and we should welcome the outcome of the election as the will of Kaduna State PDP family,” he espoused.
Gwani advised the victors to carry everyone along and play the politics of inclusiveness and immediately kickstart the process of reconciliation with all aggrieved members.
“Every election comes with joy and pains, however, it behooves on the party to use it’s internal crisis management mechanism to resolve disagreements. And this is exactly what we are expecting.
“We’re now the opposition party in Kaduna State, we cannot afford to run a party full of internal wrangling if we want to clinch power in 2023. We must galvanize the party and identify loopholes that may be a clog in the wheel of progress. We need every working tool in the kitty because each will compliment the other,” he concluded.
The PDP Congress was shifted several times because of internal wrangling, factionalization within the party and multiple Court injunctions, however the party Congress was finally conducted on Saturday, 17th September, 2020 where Mr. Hassan Hyat got 1,907 votes and his main Challenger, Hon Ashafa Waziri got 471 votes.
