The Marshal Katung Foundation Scholarship Scheme has awarded 100 Students from various institutions of higher learning in Kaduna State. According to Hon. Sunday Marshal Katung, the brain behind the scheme, “The scholarship is aimed at assisting underprivileged students to cope with the challenges they face on the course of studies.”
Katung made the above assertions during the scholarship presentation ceremony to the qualified students in Kaduna on Friday.
“If we see your growth trajectory,
“Katung added. “We will continue to support you but, if we discovered that you are part of those that have kept us backward, we will keep you at bay.”
According to the Chairperson of the Scholarship Award Screening Committee, Barr. Gloria Ballason, ” This is the first badge. There will be another scholarship for the award of excellence but, for this present badge is for indigene students.
“And what the Committee did was to try to spread the tentacles to 10 students each across 10 LGAs and also to reflect gender as much as possible.
“We are very concerned about gender because we want to encourage gender parity to ensure that the region grows with both genders. So, that’s the essential criteria.”
