The Chairman and founder of the Kudirat Abiola Sabon Gari Peace Foundation, who is also the slained activist son, Jamilu Abiola, said, the foundation decided to partner with the Kaduna State Peace Commission because of the significance of the state in the wider Nigerian context.
Jamilu made the statement at a two-day capacity building training for members of the Chikun Local Government Area peace committee.
Adding that, another reason is his mom who the foundation is named after her was given birth in Sabon Gari in Zaria, Kaduna State.
“If my mom was alife, in a couple of days from now she would have turned 70 years. For me to be actively involved in peace building in Kaduna State is the highest birthday gift I can give to her because it was in Kaduna that she was given birth.”
Jamilu went further saying, the foundation will also look at the core of the challenge, which is drug abuse because the people causing the insecurity problems are often under the influence of drugs.”
The Permanent Commissioner, Kaduna State Peace Commission, Hajiya Khadijat Hawaja Gambo thanked the Kudirat Abiola Foundation for the partnership. She enjoined participants at the workshop to take advantage of the workshop to improve on their mediation skill.
