People Democratic Party, PDP, in Kaduna State has taken dual steps towards repositioning the party and reconciling aggrieved members, which is evident by the litigations within the party prior and after the party’s Congresses in the state.
PDP State Chairman, Hon. Hassan Hyat, said, “We are repositioning our party through programmes generation and implementation. The programmes are going to look at various aspects like women and Youths participation and the role of government agencies.”
He added: “We want to review the role of government agencies in-terms of neutrality in the discharge of their activities. This is because security agents and INEC are not working for the ruling party but, for all Nigerians. So, they must be seeing as being neutral. If there is no neutrality from them, democracy can’t grow. These are the cardinal objectives that motivated the setting-up of the Committees.”
Hyat went further, From March this year to date, the party has a lot of litigations which hindered the smooth conduct of our Congress, however the Congresses have been completed in all the wards and Local Governments of the state. But then, as we all know, when people seek for position and they don’t get, some have the tendencies of becoming aggrieved.
With this, the party deems it fit through the party’s Reconciliatory Committee for people to air their grievances and proffer solutions.
According to the Chairman of the Repositioning Committee, Hon. Shehu ABG, Repositioning of a party is a huge responsibility but, by God’s grace we are going to strategize and see how we are going to do our best.
