A People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart and the 2019 party aspirant for the House of Assembly race in Zonkwa Constituency of Kaduna State has frowned at the Gov. Nasiru El-rufa-led government decision to make Saturday one of the lockdown-free days, saying, “it is wrong.”
Danjuma added that “it is a tacit approval for the usual Shaturday social gatherings and other events, which might lead to the violation of the physical distancing and stay at home measures, as well as aid the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.”
In addition, this might erode some of the gains already recorded.
The earlier the government reverse it and pick a day within the week the better for all of us.
Reacting to Danjuma’s opinion, Engr. Aaron Daniels, said, “Not quite a point.” Adding, “The new reality is, weddings that are meant for Saturdays have been rescheduled for lockdown free days,Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Infact there is a wedding schedule for tomorrow, Wednesday . Actually , people are not looking for lockdown free Saturdays to hold there weddings, they are looking for any lockdown free day , be it weekday , Saturday or Sunday to fix their wedding parties – that’s the new normal.
“Besides, wedding party is allowed provided social distancing and other NCDC guidelines are followed and I believe Kaduna Authority will not allow the NCDC guidelines/rules to be broken.”
Absolutely right my comrade, what is worth doing is worth doing well.
