The victims of the July, 2020 attack on Kukum Gida who are currently receiving treatment have received a boost when the Minority Whip of the House of Representatives and the leader of lawmakers caucus of Southern Kaduna extraction, Hon. Gideon Gwani, representing Kaura Constituency at National Assembly and his State Assembly compatriot representing Kaura Constituency at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Mugu jointly visited them.
Gurara Accord gathered that, the recent visit at Barau Dikko Hospital in Kaduna and Throne room Hospital in Kafanchan is to commiserate with the victims and to help ameliorate their suffering. At the end of the two separate visits, the lawmakers gave monetary assistance that will help offset the cost of treatment.
In Kukum Daji, the lawmakers visited the village head, Mr. Ilisha Kaka and were welcomed by a mamoth crowd. In his remarks, Gwani said, “We are here not for politics, we are here not because this is the time for politics. We are hear to sympathize with our brothers and sisters who are victims of attack,” has said.
Adding, when the incident happened, I raised it on the floor of the house and as federal lawmakers from Southern Kaduna we issued a joint press statement condemning the dastard act against our people. But to our dismay, the Kaduna State Governor called us “irresponsible leaders.”
He went further, I’m not bothered by his statement because I did exactly what the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and the good people of Kaura mandated me to do.
He also tasked youths not to take the law into their hands but, advised them not to sleep with their two eyes closed.
The Village Head of Kukum Daji expressed his joy and that of his community over the visit. He also warned the youths to take the advise given to them seriously.
The visit was rounded up with a visit to the grave site where those killed on the day of the attack were buried in mass number.
