Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, backs Governor Nasiru El-rufai of kaduna State over his decision to extend the lockdown and in intensifying the inter-state traveling restrictions in the state amid rising cases of Covid-19 in the country. He said: “While Gov. El-rufai is extending the lockdown to reduce the further spread of the virus, the governors of Kano, Katsina, Bauchi and Jigawa States have eased lockdown for people to attend public prayers.”
Covid-19 is real, it’s devastation and cruelty on humanity and our existence are also real, he said. Adding that, I wonder why some leaders will deem it fit to ease down restrictions in their respective States in the midst of the Corona terror.
The Lawmaker went further, “As of today, the total confirmed cases in the country stand at 7,016 and still counting. The figure has plateaued and if restrictions and compliance are not enforced and observed respectively, the figure may sprawled exponentially out of control.
“Relatively, amid the Covid-19 scar, President Muhammadu Buhari have advised governors to collaborate with the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 to contain the spread of the virus, which is a formidable coordination in the fight against the virulent virus. As it is now, what the Presidential Task Force on covid-19 are demanding from governors to curtail the spread is different from what the governors of Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Bauchi are doing, especially by easing lockdown for people to attend public prayers. Even when the sultan of Sokoto is urging Muslims faithful to observe the Sallah prayers at home.”
“Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari have extended the current partial lockdown of the country for two weeks that the time was not ripe for it to relax it’s containment protocols against the covid-19 pandemic.
Barde is calling on the good people of kaduna State to support Gov. El-rufai on the fight against this evil virus so that together, we will be better for it.
