Six persons were Monday night killed by gunmen in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau state.
The member representing Riyom/Barkin Ladi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Simon Mwadkwon who visited the scene on Tuesday after he described the attack as “unfortunate.”
Mwadkwon, however calls for peace and urged Security Operatives to apprehend the perpetrators of the act and be brought to book.
Eyewitness said among the victims is a village head who is awaiting coronation.
On his part, the immediate past Council Chairman of Riyom Local Government Hon. Emmanuel Jugul, had earlier in a telephone interview told journalists that other victims of the attack have been hospitalized.
“Yes a community leader of Wereng who is awaiting installation is one of the victims who died, five others were killed,” the former Council boss informed.
A relation to one of the victims who survived, Mr. Dapam Dalyop whose brother escaped by the whiskers reiterated that survivors of the incident are been hospitalized at the Vom Christian hospital.
According to our source, the entire Wereng community and neighboring communities are currently living in fears..
