A philanthropist and son of the soil in Ham community, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr. Gideon Jock has facilitated the construction of about 700 meters of rural road starting from kwanan Fada to Kpop Ham Palace, 1st ECWA roundabout to Kurmi’s House, General Hospital road, Sabzuro road and the construction of the road from Kpop Ham Palace to General Pyeng House, which will be executed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Jock, the road construction is aimed at developing the rural areas by Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Adding, the roads are going to be in phases but, we are starting with the Kwanan Fada to Kpop Ham Palace, which is about a kilometer, it is not exactly a kilometer, it is about 700 meters.
The free-giver made the explanations when fielding questions from Journalist after the commissioning of the Kwanan Fada to Kpop Ham Palace road, yesterday, in Kwoi.
He further added that, after the construction of Kwanan Fada to Kpop Ham Palace road, we are going to embark on the construction of 1st ECWA roundabout (inside the town where the market is, to Major Kurmi’s Junction, that one is also about a kilometer but, it is not up to a kilometer.
The road construction is designed to develop the town and the rural communities with infrastructural facilities and these two roads will be constructed before the rains start in earnest.
Immediately after the raining season, between November and December the contractors will resume work, starting from the roundabout to the General Hospital, from the roundabout to Sabzuro, from Kpop Ham Palace to General Pyeng’s House. These are major critical roads leading into and out of the town.
I have been working in the National Assembly since 1999, in House Committee on Appropriation where National Budget is been designed. I have taken advantages and privileges attached to where I’m working to lobby for what is available for my people to develop my community. For the past two decades I have been working hard to ensure that something is given back to my community.
Jock equally spoke on some of the projects that he has been able to attract and executed in the past and also spoke some of things he intend to do in the future.
“In the past, I have attracted water projects, solar power projects, built primary schools based on the privileges and some of the goodwill that I have, I’m currently renovating the Police Headquarters in Kwoi. I have also engaged myself in the construction of community roads in Bitaro (I’m so proud of Bitaro people, they gathered money and approached me and I gave them almost half of the money required to do the road and the road is done).
“In the near future, I will work very hard to ensure that Ministry of Agriculture (since it is saddled with the responsibility of handling rural roads), the road from Gidan Kundi to Bitaro will be done, the road that leads to Bitaro there is a big bridge that is in bad shape and to build that Bridge we need a lot of money, it will attract money in region of billion. So, we are working together with the community to do that,” he said.
Jock, in his magnanimity promised to extend some of the projects that he will attract through his goodwill to Zango-kataf LG to be able to carry along the two LGs that constitute the federal constituency.
