Christain Solidarity Worldwide Nigeria has given start-up kits to widows whose spouses were killed during attacks by armed Fulani in different parts of Kaduna State, the kits were given to the widows at the completion of a 5-day skills acquisition training in kaduna.
The widows were grouped into three: some were given grinding machines while the other groups were taught sewing and liquid soap making. They were later given sewing machines, including bag making materials and soap making chemicals and plastic containers.
Speaking at the presentation of the start-up kits, the Chief Executive Officer of CSWN, Reverend Yunusa Sabo Nmadu admonished them to make good use of the items to generate income that would help them to take care of their children.
“Continuous lamentation and indulging in self-pity over what has happened to your husbands would not bring them back, but what you can do is to raise up from your situation and begin to take charge of your future with determination. CSWN has seen your tears and we have given you an opportunity to help wipe away those tears,” he said.
While urging other NGOs to come to the aid of thousands of widows scattered all over the northern parts of Nigeria because of the activities of armed Fulani men and Boko Haram insurgents, the CEO reiterates his call to states and federal governments to end the killings of defenceless people, especially in Southern Kaduna.
CSWN has conducted several such skill trainings and distribution of business kits among other interventions, to about 3000 widows in states that include Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kaduna, Yobe, Bauchi, Kano, Adamawa and Taraba, according to the Chief Operating Officer of the organization, Mrs Teman Liti Agera.
