Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani decried the total sidelined of Kaura federal constituency of kaduna state from the beneficiaries of the covid-19 relief package embarked upon by federal government.
“As it stands now, no member of my constituency that have received succour from the federal government relief programme,” he said.
My people are demanding to know the modus operandi with which the package is being shared.
“As legislators and representative of the people we are not comfortable with the means and model that the relief package is shared. This is why we have been questioning the efficacy of the formula being deployed by the federal government to reach the poorest of the poor in the country.
“One of mandates is to legislates of n behalf of people and not raise their concerns where necessary. Given this backdrop, I’m calling on the federal government to review on the formula used so as to make the distribution of the relief package more effective and efficient to reach the most vulnerables those worst hit by the covid-19 lockdown order by the federal government.”
It will recalled that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has introduced a stimulus package to assist households and small businesses hardest hit by the devastation of the Corona virus pandemic. The N20,000 Conditional Cash Transfer to poor homes was flagged off at Kwali, which was trailed by criticism by both Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila
In her response, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq said, the distribution of the funds were in consonance with the directive of President Buhari
In the interim, the Federal Legislature should channel their palliative contribution to their constituents instead of giving it to the Federal Govt where most contituents may not hear of it again. Our Hon, that’s my take for ur possible consideration
This is real representative. Cont no I’llinue to struggle for people my Hon.
