In a press release by the Atyap Community Development on the political happenings in the land, the association dissociates itself from the fake news been peddled by mishchief-makers that the Atyap nation is working against the flagbearer of the PDP for senate, Hon. Sunday Marshal Katung.
The press release which was signed by the President of the association, Samuel T. Achie, says:
“Let me say it here that the news making the round in social media and other quarters that the Atyap nation is working against the candidate of the PDP, Hon. Sunday Marshal Katung is not true and must be regarded as fake news and unfounded.”
Speaking further, “Atyap people have enjoyed very cordial political relationship with all our neighbours Bajju inclusive. In particular the support we had for our son late distinguished senator Isaah Balat for one term and senator Danjuma laah for two terms in the senate. In the light of the above, I want to on behalf of the entire atyap say we are gratefull for the show of love.
“We will not relent in maintaining this good and cordial relationship with all our neighbours. I also want to call on all stakeholders in this game of politics to tread with care so that we don’t make more enemies than friends when we are supposed to be united to fight a common course of southern Kaduna liberation and economic emancipation.
“I plead with those making unguided statements to stop henceforth, as it will not do us good in any way. The Atyap land is above any individual and should be accorded the desired respect due.”
The response is, partly, against a social media claim by an Atyapman, Mavis Akau, that, There’s a strong petition written against Sunday Marshall and submitted to the PDP National Head Office and some Agencies immediately after the primaries. We don’t know what the outcome would be, but I can assure you, Col, we are sure gonna revisit this your write up and discuss strictly as Atyap sons and daughters. Trust me, there won’t be hold bars.”
It will be recalled that, last month, Katung emerged the winner of the PDP Southern Kaduna Senatorial primary where he got 112 votes against Senator Laah’s 74 votes.
