Priscilla Ankut, Esq, the Chief Executive of the Kaduna State Peace Commission urged the people of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State that have been bedeviled by incessant crisis to take ownership of the peace process initiated by the peace building agency in the area.
Ankut made this call during a joint meeting of the Commission and the Kajuru Truth, Peace and Reconciliation Committee today at the council chambers of the local government, Kufana. She expressed her delight at the willingness of all sides in the dialogue to live together in peace, urging them to do more, in unison, to confront the challenges on insecurity affecting them. She said achieving peace is possible of all ethno religious groups in the area come together to deliberately work for peace and thwart the machinations of those whose actions threaten peace in the area.
In his remark, the Executive Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Honorable Cafra Caino, pledged the cooperation of the council to support all peace efforts geared towards restoring peace in the area. He solicited the support of all and sundry to return Kajuru to path of enduring peace. He briefed the meeting on efforts so far made by the council that will match the efforts of the Peace Commission and other partners, promising to do more for the sake of peace, which, he said, engenders development.
Earlier, the Permanent Commissioner at the Peace Commission, Hajiya Khadija Hawaja Gambo, narrated the technical support the Commission has regularly provided the Kajuru Truth, Peace and Reconciliation Committee to achieve its objectives. The capacity of the Committee members, she says, will be further improved to meet the current challenges of facing them. Thanking the Commission, the chairman of the Committee, Honorable Patrick Maigari, reiterated the zeal of the members to work day and night to have normalcy and tranquility again for the development of Kajuru.
