The newly elected National President of Atyap Development Association, (ADA), Zango Kataf Council of Kaduna State, Dr. Silas Adamu has pledged to pursue values that will ensure sustainable peace, mutual trust and rapid socio-econic growth of the Atyap land and the state at Large.
Dr. Adamu made the pledge shortly after his election. Adding that, ADA will seek to engage and collaborate with government at all levels towards bringing the much needed development in the area.
According to the outgoing ADA President, Professor Lucius Joseph Bamaiyi, charged the new leadership to sustain and build on the peace initiative between the Atyap and other people living in Atyap land, which was initiated by the paramount ruler of the Atyap Chiefdom, His Royal Highness, the Agwatyap, Dominic Gambo Yahaya.
Bamaiyi who enjoined the Atyap people to strife to leave in peace with all men at all times, also charged the new leadership to strengthen and rejuvenate the education development programme the outgoing leadership initiated, as education was the natural resources of the Southern Kaduna region.
Dr. Adamu who is also the Secretary General of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, (MHWUN), polled 100 votes to beat his two opponents, Engineer Simon Musa Yashim and Dr. Gideon Zamani who trailed behind with a distant 20 and five votes respectively.
Other members of the new executive include: Engineer Simon Nuhu Yashim, First Vice President, Haruna Musa, Secretary General, Felix Sogfa, Assistant Sec-Gen and Mrs. Anna Sarki, Treasurer. The rest are: Dr. Shehu Makarau, Social and Cultural Secretary, Simon Achi, Financial Secretary,
Emmanuel Kanai Organising Secretary and Pius Marcus as PRO, respectively.
