8 Feared Dead, About 100 Houses Burnt Down As Bandits Held Sway in Atyapland

Bandits have continued onslaught in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State as 8 feared dead, A whole village of more than 100 houses burnt down, ECWA Church and the Family House of a retired General were burnt down. This occured Last night when the attacks started at about 10:30 pm and lasted for about 3 hours.
Many people also received bullets wounds and were conveyed to hospitals in Zonkwa the Local Government Headquarters.
The attacks took place in Matyei Village and Abuyab Community, all the houses in Matyei (more than one hundred) were razed down with 8 dead bodies recovered.
Also in Abuyab a nearby community, several Houses were burnt including ECWA Church and the pastorium.
The Family House of a retired General, Shekari Biliyock who was an ECOMOG commander in Nigeria peace keeping mission was not left behind as the compound was also razed. One of the occupant of the Compound who was among the District Head sacked by the state government Mr. Umaru Billiyock was said to have traveled and his car developed fault on his way back in the late hours of the day which forced him to sleep away from home.
The Bandits also laid ambush between Gorah Gida and Shiliam Communities where they shot 3 people from Gorah Gida one of the victims died and 2 taken to hospital.
The military forces sent to the area to keep peace are stationed in Zango Urban. The surrounding communities are pointing accusing fingers and alleging that Zango urban is been used by the bandits as hideout to launch attacks against them. The distance between Zango Urban where the military forces are stationed to Abuyab and Matyei is about 3 kilometers and this raises further concerns.
