Kaduna State government defied it’s social distancing order, the same order the federal government put in place to forestall the spread of the Covid-19. It breached the order during the sharing of food items to the poor in the most impoverished communities in the metropolis. The sharing took place in closely knitted crowd in many locations, which is contrary to the 2 metres prescribed by medical experts.
The procedure that many people expressed dissatisfaction. According to a bystander at the sharing spot in Ugwan Boro, “It would have been better to share a lot for few than to share nothing for so many people.”
An academia cum Journalist, Ahmed Balarabe Saed took to the social media and expressed his misgivings. “Some of the images of the Palliative packages mock the poor. They ridicule us all.”
Before the state government circumvented it’s own order, the government imposed 24 hours curfew on the 27th March, 2020 where the state security operatives have arrested two clerics for conducting congregational prayers in violatiin of the quarantine terms, also arrested165 persons, impounded 205 vehicles and tricycles for abusing the curfew imposed by the government as part of the measures to prevent the spread of Civid-19.
