The pioneer Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and currently, Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Durungwa pleaded with Gov. Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai of Kaduna State to apply the same reasoning in supporting the Presidency to be zoned to Southern Nigeria in 2023, for the Governorship to shift to Southern Kaduna for fairness and equity.
Durungwa is a Governorship Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, he made the comments over the weekend at a parley with Southern Kaduna Journalist Forum in Kaduna to formally declare his aspiration for the Sir Kashim lbrahim seat of government.
Durungwa added that, he is taking his aspiration with all seriousness as he has both the potential and capacity to continue with the good legacies of Gov. el-Rufai and open up new frontiers of development that will be of great benefit to the people.
He described as erroneous the notion being held by Governor Nasir el-Rufai that the governorship election can be won without votes from Southern Kaduna. He argued using statistics from previous elections to proof that the region is central in winning the number one seat.
Dr Durunwa is of the view that now is the best time for the Southern Kaduna to make a good outing and produce the governor, having the northern part held it for eight consecutive years in a stretch, and 13 years since 1999.
