Zango Kataf chapter of the People Democratic Party, PDP, was thrown into wild jubilation, yesterday, as Francis Zimbo Sani was declared the winner of the concluded party’s primary at Bajju Town Hall, Zonkwa.
Zimbo, having met all the requirements as stipulated by the state electoral commission and party’s guidelines on parties primary election, was declared the winner of the 2021 PDP primary conducted for the Z/Kataf Chairmanship aspirants by the Electoral Committee of the party led by Hon. Salisu Suleiman Mando.
Three aspirants went into the contest with the hope of clinching the party’s ticket: Mr. Francis Zimbo Sani, Mr. Yusuf Kantiok and Mr. Bagudu Joseph where Zimbo got 137 votes, Kantiok 133 votes and Joseph 2 votes out of the the total 274 votes cast (272 valid votes and 2 invalids).
Prior to the primary, Hon. Emmanuel Zakka Chidoks, Senior Legislative Aide to the member representing Zangon-Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Hon. Magaji Amos and Tonak Yakubu, Vice Chairman of Zango Kataf LG stepped down for Hon. Francis Zimbo Sani.
After he was declared winner, Zimbo thanked everyone that contributed to his victory. He said his victory is for all and equally those who stepped down for him, he described them as “genuine politicians” with the interest of the party at heart.
He called on all the aspirants who contested with him but, didn’t win not to see his victory as a personal victory but a victory for the entire party. He said, “Now is time to work together for the general interest of the party and the local government as a whole. I’m going to rely on all your support and contributions.”
