The Atyap community in Kaduna, yesterday, held a grand reception in honour of the 15 leaders detained in Police custody for Three Months. The leaders were granted bail last Thursday after the case was mentioned at the Magistrate Court No. 1, Bida Road, Kaduna.
According to the First Information Report(FIR), the Fifteen Atyap leaders and elders among them an 84 year old was being charged on accusations of criminal breach of trust, negligent conduct and mischief by killing cattles.
All the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the accusations and the Chief Magistrate, Magistrate Benjamin Hassan granted them bail on a bond of N300,000 against each of them, one surety each whom must be a civil servant resident within the Court Jurisdiction and must produce Letter of appointment, Print out of Bank Verification Number last 6 months utility bill official Identity card and 2 passports.
Speaking to journalists, Lawyer to the accused persons Barrister Kasai Jessy Arung said the bail has given them the opportunity to prepare for defense when hearing commence on 15 July this year.
Meanwhile the Atyap community staged a grand reception to welcome the leaders for going through the though times.
The Representative of the Atyap Chiefdom in Kaduna Mr. Simon Achi who spoke at the event said the leaders went through the excruciating pains for no cause of theirs.
According to him, the constitution has no bias against any group and persons and that God will never abandoned anyone that is innocent.
